Creatures

Changed

Those who experienced the Fall, and became something other than human.

Critter

Insect-like Changed, usually very poisonous, and incapable of normal emotions.

Flyer

Any Changed with wings

Hunter

Dangerous, ferret-like Changed.

Rat

Rodent-like Changed, usually considered cruel.

Skinwalkers

Zombie-like creatures made of body parts, actual bodies are masses of organic ‘threads'.

Ther

Animal Changed. Some have only basic instincts, others entire bodies.

Vampire

Changed that drinks blood and consumes the life force of others.

Weird

Men, or not-men, these creatures retain the shape, but have extraordinary strength, agility, and intelligence, making them a sort of super-men. Most work in law enforcement.

Fall

The time when Earth was almost destroyed due to the plagues coming from the Puzzle-effected area of Washington, in what used to be the U.S.

Alien artifact responsible for the Fall, that looks vaguely like a carved statue of a humanoid with a large head.

Organizations

Bureau of Changed Investigation (BCI)

The agents of the BCI serve as police, registration officers and researchers of the Changed. Most changed still distrust them, as they had ruthlessly hunted the Changed in the past before assuming the current roles.

Human Authority Militia (HAM)

The HAM (likely unaware of their unfortunate name) is an association of humans who believe that the Changed are a mishap in evolution/creation, and should be wiped out. In their attempt to establish a human reign in New City and drive off all Changed, they have become known and feared for their acts of violence.

The Kings

The Kings are a group of Changed that believe humans are inferior to changed, and have no place in the new merciless world. In their pursuit of conquering New City for the Changed they are as ruthless as the HAM

Places

New City

Former New York, now an independent nation.

Outpost 59

Outpost is the only research outpost rediscovered in the area directly affected by the puzzle. It had been abandoned along with several others when the majority of the personell fell victim to the Blue Flu, and the rampant mutated animals of the area threatened to break into the compounds.

The Slaughterhouse

The Slaughterhouse serves the Kings both as prison and torture chamber. It is located in an old abandoned opera.
